My inspiring nature walk through the Great Smoky Mountains
My family was fortunate to get away to Tennessee over President's Day weekend. We have always made the Great Smokey Mountain National Park a yearly event and a nature hike part of the tradition. My kids just love everything outdoors so the trip is always perfect.
It was during this walk that I began to be inspired not by the clear, beautiful rapids of the water
or the gorgeous old hardwood trees that have grown into their own unique shapes over the past hundred years
or looking down from 6,600 feet at the most visited national park in the United States.
My inspiration this day was found here
Don't get me wrong this is absolutely beautiful
but on this particular day it was just
Moss.
It was everywhere and it was so beautifully green when everything else was'nt.
So, I am working on a few projects using my inspiring nature walk and moss. As soon as I get my head out of the clouds, I will show you what I come up with.

I am really happy for you...really
The other day as I was reading how Christina at No.29 picked up this up Ballard's mirror on the side of the road
I thought to myself, hmmm, maybe I can be so lucky and find something so wonderful, beautiful and free.
I wouldn't mind finding one of these beauties on the
side of my road

That would make me happy,
or one of these would be super cool

Or, I would be over the moon thrilled if I found this

But no, instead I found these
Wait... look, there's 2. How awesome is that!
Anybody need a mattress? I would be happy to share my roadside treasure. I will even deliver it to you.
What junk treasure have you found on the side of your road?
Note: Unfortunately living in the country has it's disadvantages, one of them being the above which was taken on the way to drive my son to school. People see country roads as a way to dump used, nasty, old mattress's and their dogs . I don't get it.

It's a sea of Gray
For the last several months I have been grappling with the lack of personality that my office exudes.
It's the think tank of the house and she is BORING!
So, it's time for a refresh.
Months of seeing posh, simple and clean danced in my head while I was sleeping, and then the vision was starting to come together.
First things first.
The color.
I knew I wanted gray, but had no idea that there were so many different shades of the color.
After 200 swatches I have settled on 10
and then down to the final 4
Here's some of the inspiration that moved me for my office project

What to do with 1970ish furniture??
My girlfriend tapped into my love of restoring and painting furniture, and asked if I would help makeover a bedroom suite of furniture that she had. Gladly, I obliged.
She had a love for my Drab to Fab table and wanted to do everything in the ASCP Old White .
She was a beauty in her time, but it was time for some serious updating.
First thing was to wipe down all the furniture as it had been stored for quite a while. I removed all of the original hardware. I started with the drawers first and applied two coats of paint. Then, I used medium grit sandblock and distressed the edges.
For the dresser, I applied two coats of paint. I distressed all of the edges with my sand block and applied wax to the top and sides of the dresser.
Now it was time to put the hardware back on, problem was some of the hardware was missing ( I think my dog ate it- seriously!) This was the original hardware that I painted a satin nickel finish before I realized some of the pulls were missing.
So off to Lowes to find replacements. Convincing my friend that the pulls were a little outdated anyways, I chose some satin nickel knobs and pulls that I thought would work well with the style of her bedroom.
No more 1970's look for her. I'd say she's quite the trend setter.
And remember the night stand before I started the project
Well, he ain't looking so bad either!
